💡 Salt Mixing Tips

  • ✓Always mix salt in RO/DI water, never tap water. Tap water contains chlorine, chloramine, and heavy metals that harm corals and invertebrates.
  • ✓Mix in a separate container, not directly in your tank. A clean bucket or brute trash can works great.
  • ✓Let the salt mix circulate with a powerhead for 12–24 hours before use. This ensures complete dissolution and gas exchange.
  • ✓Match the temperature to your tank before adding — aim for 76–78°F (24–26°C) to avoid thermal shock.
  • ✓Always verify salinity with a refractometer before adding new water to your tank. Digital refractometers are the most accurate.
  • ✓Store unused salt mix in an airtight container away from moisture. Salt absorbs humidity quickly and can clump.

Track Your Parameters Over Time
